About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Automation Tester to join a large federal government digital transformation program. In this role, you’ll design, build, and execute automated test suites across multiple layers (UI, API, and integration) to ensure high-quality, reliable software delivery.
You’ll work closely with developers, business analysts, and delivery teams in an Agile environment, driving test automation maturity and supporting CI/CD pipelines.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
Develop, maintain, and execute automated test scripts for UI, API, and regression testing.
Collaborate with developers to implement test-driven development (TDD/BDD) practices.
Design reusable test frameworks and support continuous testing in CI/CD pipelines.
Perform functional, integration, regression, and performance testing as needed.
Identify, log, and manage defects through resolution, providing clear documentation.
Contribute to test strategy, planning, and reporting to stakeholders.
Mentor team members in automation best practices and tools.
Required Skills & Experience
3+ years’ experience in test automation in enterprise environments.
Proficiency with test automation tools such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, or similar.
Strong experience in API testing (Postman, REST Assured) and scripting with JavaScript, Java, or Python.
Hands-on experience integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps).
Solid understanding of Agile methodologies and BDD frameworks (Cucumber, Behave).
Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills, with a focus on root-cause analysis.
Excellent documentation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Desirable (Nice to Have)
ISTQB or equivalent test certification.
Experience with performance testing tools (JMeter, Gatling).
Familiarity with containerised test environments (Docker, Kubernetes).
Knowledge of Australian Government security and compliance frameworks.
